I was nosing around the village early this morning and chanced upon a monster patch of Wild Strawberries (Fragaria vesca). The recent rain had made the fruits swell, and surprisingly they had not gone ‘pappy’ but tasted beautifully sweet. Time to go a gorging.
Suggestion: Head outside and try and find some Wild Strawberries. Pick some and offer them to a stranger.

Any tips on where to find these? I’ve had a look in a lot of local woodland but it would help if i had more to go by!
Matt: They are usually found in open woods and scrub, banks and other grassy places. Usually on alkaline soil or rock.
we are moving house and in the back garden all down one side are wild strawberrie plant i am very glad to see they can be eaten as have two small children!
We have wild strawberries in our woods and they are edible now. Some of the strawberries still have flowers on them so we hope that we’ll get fruit for a few weeks at least.
Our land is very chalky, so that explains why the wild and cultivated strawberries grow so well here.
