Building Natural Defences in the Cold and Flu Season
Every winter they arrive. The familiar colds and flus. Now joined by RSV and covid.
They spread easily in damp weather and crowded classrooms.
For some, they’re a few rough days.
For others, the aftermath drags on:
- coughs that won’t go,
- fatigue that lingers,
- a system that never quite resets.
And here’s the simple truth:
Antibiotics don’t work against viruses.
They should only be used if there’s a secondary bacterial infection.
So what can we do instead?
About this Herb Hour.
This is the recording of our live Winter Viruses session with Simon Mills.
In this 60-minute class, Simon explores winter viruses in a different light.
You’ll learn what they really are, why they show up, and how to strengthen your body’s natural defences so you can recover better, and faster.
You’ll discover:
- How viruses behave, and why they surface when the body’s resilience is low
- Ways to recognise when a lingering infection is pointing to deeper needs
- Plant remedies that support recovery from colds, flus, RSV, and covid
- Practical steps to help avoid post-viral fatigue
- How to build immunity gently, without overloading your system
This isn’t about miracle cures or quick fixes.
It’s about understanding your body and giving it the support it needs to do what it’s built to do: heal.
Why this matters.
Once upon a time, medicine dreamed of ‘curing the common cold.’
But the truth is, if you spend time in shared indoor spaces and don’t come down with every cold that’s going round, your body is already doing that curing.
The real work isn’t to fight nature, but to strengthen what’s already there.
To support the tissues, cells, and immune responses that are constantly protecting you.
And this is where plants can help.
What makes this different.
You’ll get clear, trustworthy guidance, not folklore passed around on social media.
